POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION

At Liguori Academy, our programs are built around the Liguori Ready Pyramid, emphasizing social-emotional learning, career readiness, and real-world experiences.

The Class of 2024 received over $2.3 million in scholarship offers and final decisions at colleges and universities across the country.

Through the resources and opportunities available at Liguori Academy, students can personalize their path towards their passions. They learn to set and achieve goals that help advance them on their postsecondary path.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

9th Grade

FOCUS: FOUNDATION BUILDING

Students complete assessments in a proprietary postsecondary software program to understand their motivators, values, and current skills and strengths. Students complete workshops that focus on building their soft skills while exploring various postsecondary pathways available.

  • Students are introduced to the core values that drive Liguori Academy’s educational approach.

  • Students are enrolled in all four career cohorts (one per quarter) that will assist them in their discernment of choosing a career cohort for grades 10-12.

  • Using Social & Emotional Curriculum, we provide students with tools for personal development, resilience, and emotional intelligence such as self-awareness, social awareness.

  • Online platform students use to explore various careers and pathways to the various careers. Students complete lessons, access entries for careers from diverse industries, take assessments to evaluate their career strengths and interests, and more!

  • Students are introduced to 5 key professional skills, including communication, honesty, professionalism, teamwork, and time management.

  • Online platform that allows students to begin their journey with college and career planning, getting familiar with resources that help them chart future pathways.

10th Grade

FOCUS: SKILL BUILDING & MENTORSHIP

The students dig deeper into their postsecondary exploration and build on their established foundation. They learn and understand the pathways available to them after graduation: college, career in an in-demand field as defined by the Department of Labor (DOL), military, or trade school.

  • Students write and complete their resumes and cover letters. Once completed, they upload to Scoir, which ensures faculty can access them for letters of recommendation.

  • Students practice interview skills and prepare for internships that will begin junior year. Partners may engage in these preparations by offering workshops or mock interviews.

  • Our in-house counseling staff continues providing social-emotional learning, with an emphasis on self-awareness and managing relationships

  • Students begin coursework in their selected career cohort, receiving industry-specific knowledge.

  • Online platform students use to explore various careers and pathways to the various careers. Students complete lessons, access entries for careers from diverse industries, take assessments to evaluate their career strengths and interests, and more!

11th Grade

FOCUS: INTERNSHIPS & CAREER READINESS

Students solidify their plan and begin internships in related fields. They complete assessments in Scoir and Science and create their list of potential options within their chosen path. They also complete their first postsecondary presentation.

  • Juniors delve deeper into their cohort studies, gaining industry knowledge and practical skills.

  • Students continue to complete lessons, explore careers, and take career assessments.

  • Students are required to complete internships, with structured support from Liguori’s Internship Coordinator. Weekly communications between the company, student, and coordinator ensure a positive experience.

  • At the end of the internship, students present or report on their experiences.

12th Grade

FOCUS: POSTSECONDARY PREPARATION

Students complete the final steps for their postsecondary plan to ensure their successful trajectory into their chosen path. They complete an off-site internship in their chosen field and share their final postsecondary presentations.

Through the completion of cohort classes, internships, mentor programs, shadow days, and industry certifications, students are Liguori Ready upon their graduation. 

  • Students complete their cohort-specific classes, with continued industry certifications where applicable.

  • Students continue to complete lessons, explore careers, and take career assessments.

  • Seniors prepare for life beyond Liguori, with mandatory college financial aid seminars and optional dual enrollment opportunities.

  • As seniors complete internships, they will present or report on their experiences to their employer.

  • Students present their postsecondary plans, including college acceptance or career entry, guided by their experiences with partner companies.
