Nervous? Maybe. Prepared? Absolutely. Liguori Academy Holds Mock Interview Day

March 2026 - The Alphonsus Post

None of it would have been possible without Workforce teacher Mr. Dylan, who spent weeks getting his students ready: running practice interviews, showing instructional videos, and walking them through what to expect. When asked how his students performed, he didn’t hesitate. “Fantastic! I was so proud of them. Everyone seemed extremely prepared. There were a lot of people who were nervous, but you guys were able to push through that and do something that’s tough.” For students who felt they didn’t do their best, he had some reassuring words too. “Opportunities to fail aren’t bad,” he said. “You learn the most from failing, and in the future, when it’s the real deal, you’ll have the feedback you need to succeed.”

On Thursday, March 5, sophomores and juniors at Liguori Academy participated in mock interviews as part of their Workforce class. The event took place in the loft from 12:00 to 2:45 PM, and every single student got the chance to take part. Liguori Academy is always looking for ways to prepare students for the real world, and this event was exactly that.

Mr. Dylan wanted to highlight two students who really shone on the day. Sophomore Alexandra impressed her interviewers despite being nervous going in. She came in prepared though, having studied with classmates, teachers, and even siblings at home. All that hard work clearly paid off. Her advice to future students? “Make sure you’re prepared, practice eye contact, and don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Be yourself, while also remaining professional.”

Junior Nicholas also earned high praise. “I was nervous about not being prepared for the questions,” Nicholas said, “but once I got into the interview, I felt confident.” When asked if the experience prepared him for real job interviews down the road, he was clear: “Yeah, 100%. I definitely do.” And honestly? We believe him.

A big thank-you to all the organizations that volunteered their time to be interviewers. Their patience and honest feedback gave students something a classroom lesson alone just can’t: the feeling of a real interview, with real stakes and real takeaways. That is something these students will cary with them for a long time.

Liguori Academy extends a sincere thanks to all of the professionals who made the mock interview experience exceptional for our students. By sharing their time, advice, and encouragement, they helped turn a class activity into an experience students won’t forget. Thanks to their support, students walked away more confident, more prepared, and ready for what’s next.
