Over 200 Philly Students Get Free Backpacks

Philadelphia, PA, August 28, 2025 – On August 27th, the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation, in partnership with iHeartMedia Philadelphia and Carpenters Union Local 158, visited Liguori Academy for a back-to-school event! Together, we distributed backpacks filled with essential school supplies to our students. Some students even discovered extra-special surprises in their backpacks, including a PlayStation, a laptop, and the new Madden NFL 26 video game featuring Saquon!

While Saquon Barkley wasn’t able to attend, his mother, Tonya Johnson, shared this inspiring message from him with our students:

"Believe in yourselves. Set expectations for yourselves. Set goals for yourselves, and continue to work toward those goals every day. Nothing is given to you; everything is earned. You have to have that mindset to work hard every day and learn every single day. You can only control what you can control. So, learn from every experience and every mistake."

We sincerely thank the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation, iHeartMedia Philadelphia, and Carpenters Union Local 158 for giving our students this exciting opportunity to kick off the school year!
